LEED Certification

LEED Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a globally recognized rating system developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Its aim is to analyze and evaluate the ecological, social, and economic aspects of construction projects to promote sustainable building practices. Widely accepted worldwide, LEED is characterized by clear criteria that enhance the efficiency and environmental friendliness of buildings.

The rating system is based on eight main categories, ranging from site selection and water efficiency to energy use, innovations, and regional priorities. Projects are awarded points depending on the criteria they meet, enabling certification in levels such as “Certified,” “Silver,” “Gold,” or “Platinum”. LEED offers various certification options tailored to project types and phases, including new construction, renovations, existing buildings, and the development of entire cities and communities.

LEED is applied to projects such as office buildings, residential buildings, or neighborhood developments. For certification, relevant documentation is provided, such as analyses of energy efficiency, infrastructure, or resource utilization. Digital platforms like LEED Online and ARC aid in data collection and provide efficient tools for portfolio evaluation.

The certification process is managed by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), in collaboration with property owners, consultants, and planners. Professionals such as LEED APs (Accredited Professionals) ensure precise coordination and smooth implementation of requirements. Group and portfolio certifications further simplify the procedure, promoting the widespread adoption of sustainable building practices.

With over 100,000 certified projects worldwide, LEED is an established system for environmentally friendly, resource-efficient, and healthy building practices. It helps construction projects reduce long-term costs, minimize environmental impacts, and improve the users’ quality of life.
