WELL Certification
WELL Certification is a globally recognized system focused on the promotion of health and well-being through the design of buildings. Developed by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™), the certification evaluates factors such as air, water, light, movement, and community to improve the quality of life within buildings.
The certification system is based on a scoring model with mandatory requirements (Preconditions) and optional optimizations (Optimizations). Preconditions must be met to achieve certification, while Optimizations provide additional points for reaching the levels of Silver, Gold, or Platinum. The criteria are scientifically validated, addressing factors such as air quality, thermal comfort, and materials.
WELL Certification is applicable to various building types, including office and residential buildings as well as mixed-use properties. Measurements of air, water, light, and acoustics are an integral part of the process to ensure the health and efficiency of buildings. This helps property owners and operators adapt to modern requirements.
WELL is supported by accredited professionals, known as WELL APs, who coordinate the certification process and ensure the clear implementation of its criteria. Their expertise ensures seamless certification, including rigorous performance testing and documentation.
By meeting WELL Certification standards, properties can implement scientifically validated measures such as air quality controls and thermal adjustments. These measures provide tangible benefits, such as reducing health-related absences in workplaces and improving user comfort. At the same time, they contribute to the long-term preservation and sustainability of buildings.
