Services

This guide explains everything you can do with the Services area in the BlueRange Portal. It is written for portal administrators. No technical background is required.

Visibility depends on your rights. Depending on your assigned rights, some buttons or menu items described here may not appear for you. If you cannot see an action you need, contact your administrator.

Introduction

Services lets you build a catalog of links and resources that are shown to users in the app. You find it under:

Configuration → App Management → Services

The catalog has two levels:

  • Service Categories – the top level. Each category groups related entries and can be tied to a building, given a validity period, and switched on or off.

  • Category Entries – the items inside a category. Each entry points to a URL, has an icon, and can also have its own validity period and on/off state.

You first create a category, then open it to add one or more entries.

An entry is only visible in the app when it is active (enabled) and the current date lies within its configured Valid from / Valid until period. The same applies to its category. If an item is disabled or outside its validity period, users will not see it. See more at Key concepts.

The Service Categories page

This is the page you land on when you click Services in the menu.

What you see

  • Information sidebar – shows the total number of categories.

Key concepts

Bilingual names. Every category and entry has both a German and an English name. Users see the name that matches their language, so both fields are required.

Validity and activation together decide visibility. An entry is only shown to users when all of these are true:

  • its category is active, and its category is within any set validity period;

  • the entry itself is active, and it is within any set validity period.

If a category is inactive, not yet valid, or expired, none of its entries are shown – regardless of the entries' own settings.

Ordering. Use Change order to drag categories (or entries) into the sequence you want. This controls the order in which they are presented.

Building association. Linking a category to a building lets you organize your catalog by location. It is optional. Currently, the app only lists the services of the building that is active for the user.
